Algal oil is converted into biodiesel through a transesterification process. Oil extracted from the algae is mixed with alcohol and an acid or base to produce the fatty acid methylesters that makes up the biodiesel.
This biodiesel has been prepared by class 9 students ( 2021-22) and also being used in science lab in lamps during many heating experiments.
MANUFACTURING OF USEFUL ITEMS
Soap flakes( 30gm), potassium carbonate (15gm), beeswax (150gm), gum arabic powder (15gm),icing sugar(45gm) & charcoal powder( 280gm)were used in 3 simple steps to produce shoes polish which is being used by the students of class 8 who manufactured it.
Our students BS Tathya,Shivangi Subhalaxmi,Dimple Majhi,Jubraj Rana and Debika Sahoo of Std IX took simple house hold puja items like camphor, frankincense (Jhuna) and coconut oil mixed it with waste materials like saw dust and cow-dung and made their own organic dhoop having a beautiful natural aroma. They are not only using this organic dhoop at home but also making the nearby households aware to use the same.
